Technology & Innovation Policies
The success of industrial decarbonisation is largely determined by the regulatory framework and funding incentives. Therefore, (the) NEFI_Lab is also committed to this topic.
Our work – the link between industry and policies
The NEFI Lab supports the design and further development of the respective regulatory framework and the funding programmes by collecting and processing inputs and information from a variety of industrial players.
Inputs from the NEFI Community (subprojects)
Through a regular dialogue process with the subproject coordinators and the entire NEFI Community, challenges relating to the regulatory framework that were identified in the context of the subprojects, are collected and structured. At the same time, best practice solutions for overcoming regulatory obstacles are identified and included in the NEFI work. So far, topics of interest in this context, were, for example, possibilities for large-scale demonstration projects and permission issues.
Input from stakeholders outside the NEFI Community
In addition to the industrial companies already involved in the subprojects, further stakeholders from the industrial, society, research and public sectors are surveyed on their assessment of the industrial energy transition. The aim is to gain insights into the opinions, perceptions and interests of different societal groups. The information also flows into the NEFI innovation process. Furthermore, it should help to find adequate solutions for societal challenges related to the industrial energy transition.
Identification of global trends and framework conditions for RTI policies
To further develop RTI policies, it is also helpful to make assessments of future developments and trends. In order to support this process, the NEFI_Lab continuously analyses national and international studies on all aspects of relating to industry and decarbonisation and processes the findings accordingly.
Dialogue with funding organisations and decision-makers
The insights gained from the above-mentioned dialogue processes and analyses are summarised in appropriate formats and serve as a basis for discussion at meetings and in other dialogue processes with research funding institutions and decision-makers. This contributes to the NEFI goals.
