For 30 years, the Upper Austrian State Prize for Innovation has been awarded. In this anniversary year, the team from the Energieinstitut at JKU Linz is delighted to receive the award. The NEFI project Heat Highway, led by Key Researcher Simon Moser from the Energieinstitut at JKU Linz, has secured the first place in the research category.

Under the motto "Progress by Innovation", the International Vienna Energy and Climate Forum will delve into key priorities, showcase solutions from around the world and highlight the action-oriented steps required to achieve Sustainable Development Goals.

To this day, 10-25% of total industrial energy consumption is caused by drying processes. In terms of energy efficiency, the use of heat pumps together with real time monitoring solutions using infrared sensor (IR) technology show great energy savings potentials for numerous industries. This Technology Talk offers an overview of energy efficient drying applications, low-cost IR product moisture sensors and insights into future projects.

The Austrian DC Pilot Factory is a pioneering NEFI-project that aims to develop and demonstrate a secure, flexible and scalable direct current (DC) network for the industry. By integrating solar power generation and a bidirectional charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, the NEFI project sets new standards in sustainable energy supply and mobility.
