60 Million Euros for the Transformation of Austrian Industry

The third call of the RTI initiative “Transformation of Industry” has been completed: 34 projects will receive around €60 million in funding. Companies and research institutions are being supported in the development and implementation of climate-neutral industrial solutions. Together with the Federal Ministry for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure (BMIMI), the Climate and Energy Fund is supporting companies and research institutions in developing and implementing climate-neutral industrial solutions.
For NEFI – New Energy for Industry, the call provides important momentum for industrial transformation. As an innovation laboratory, NEFI supports the development of new projects, connects companies and research institutions, and creates opportunities for cooperation and knowledge transfer through established information and exchange formats.

Broad Range of Innovations

The funded projects cover key areas of industrial transformation – from electrification and energy efficiency to CO₂-neutral gases and hydrogen, as well as the circular economy, flexibility and digitalisation.
A new focus is the development and preparation for manufacturing of net-zero technologies. This creates important foundations for the subsequent scaling and industrial production of innovative technologies.
More than three quarters of the funding volume goes directly to companies. A significant share of the projects combines research and development with pilot and demonstration facilities, thereby creating concrete pathways towards industrial application.

The transformation of industry requires strong cooperation across the entire innovation chain. This is exactly where NEFI comes in: the innovation network brings together companies, research institutions and other stakeholders and supports them in turning technological ideas into concrete projects and solutions for industrial practice.
