by Oxana Schmidt

The province of Styria, Energie Steiermark and Verkehrsverbund Steiermark presented awards to Styrian lighthouse projects in the fields of energy, environment and climate in the auditorium of the University on June 5th, 2024.

The nominated projects in the categories of application, research, municipalities, youth and education, mobility and the focus topic of newcomers were presented in a festive setting. The patrons of the categories, Deputy Governor Anton Lang, District Administrator Ursula Lackner, Christian Purrer ((Managing Director of Energie Steiermark) and Peter Gspaltl (Managing Director of Verkehrsverbund Steiermark) announced the winners and congratulated both the winners and the other award-winning projects by presenting them with certificates and statues.

The NEFI project Heat Highway was awarded in the category RESEARCH.

The project is investigating supra-regional heat transfer networks that connect district heating networks and waste heat sources with each other in order to enable the feed-in of industrial waste heat and the supra-regional exchange of district heating.

Further information about the project and publications on this innovative concept can be found on our website: Heat Highway | NEFI

We congratulate all the award winners on their exciting projects, and especially the fortunate Heat Highway project team for this outstanding achievement.

This project is made possible by funding from Klima- und Energiefonds and the province of Upper Austria.
