The Steirische Ökofonds (Styrian Eco Fund) is launching a new funding call for innovative energy storage and system integration. The aim is to reduce climate-damaging emissions and increase energy efficiency in Styria.
What Is Funded?
- Planning and implementation of innovative electricity, heat, and cold storage (TRL 7–9)
- Innovative system integration (TRL 7–9) of newly built or existing storage systems
- Costs for construction, commissioning, energy management, as well as measurement, control, and regulation technology
Not eligible for funding: standard commercial storage systems without innovation, lead-acid batteries, research facilities, or storage systems combined with fossil energy sources.
Who Can Apply?
Eligible applicants are legal entities such as companies, developers, municipalities, associations, cooperatives, energy communities, and educational institutions. Private individuals are not eligible to apply.
Funding Amount
A total of EUR 1,000,000 is available for this call.
Funding is provided in the form of a non-repayable investment grant:
1. Innovative implementation concept (Module 1)
- Up to 80% of eligible planning services (De-minimis aid)
- If not applicable: small enterprises 80%, medium 70%, others 60%
- Max. 20% of the expected investment volume or up to EUR 10,000
2. Concrete implementation (Module 2)
- Up to 30% of environmentally relevant additional costs
- Medium-sized enterprises max. 40%, small/micro-enterprises and other eligible applicants max. 50%
- Maximum grant: EUR 200,000
- Minimum investment volume: EUR 30,000
Deadlines & Submission
- Start: October 1st, 2025
- Module 1 (Innovative implementation concept): submission deadline January 15th, 2026
- Module 2 (Implementation): submission deadlines January 15th, 2026 and, if applicable, April 30th, 2026
